En ce premier jour du Championnat du monde, il est bon de se rappeler que le football est avant tout un moyen d´éducation. C´est, en tout cas, ce que l´on peut en déduire en voyant cette photo de la vaillante équipe suisse de Xayomlaj qui joue sur un terrain de fortune.
Dans ce même endroit, on perfectionne ses connaissances de boulangerie grâce aux donations de la Fondation Comtesse Moira, ainsi que des Rotariens du Chablais vaudois.
A Santa Barbara s´est ouvert un atelier d´apprentissage de couture. Il est heureux de constater que cette carrière n´intéresse pas seulement les filles, puisque douze jeunes gens se sont inscrits et font montre de beaucoup d´assiduité à l´étude. De plus, nous en sommes déjà au quatrième mois de cours d´alphabétisation dans six communautés qui réunit 110 jeunes, des filles en majorité. L´établissement d´une bibliothèque suit son cours dans le même endroit avec l´aide d´une fondation américaine.
En ce qui concerne les projets productifs, la formation d´une coopérative de petits caficulteurs se poursuit, ainsi que la recherche de fonds pour le développement de techniques de production plus efficientes. Un projet de culture d´avocats (il s´agit des légumes!) prend forme avec la collaboration du ministère de l´agriculture. Pour ce faire, 70 familles sont informées sur l´élaboration de fertilisant organique par des techniciens agronomes, ceci afin d´apprendre à respecter l´environnement.
Sur le front de l´amélioration des conditions générales de vie, nous travaillons avec le ministère de la santé et d´autres organisations pour doter petit à petit Santa Barbara de toilettes. Cela permettra de limiter les conséquences néfastes de la situation actuelle sur la santé des enfants par la pollution des eaux.

Swiss national team of Xayomlaj:"Honduras´d better watch out!"
On the opening day of the World championship of football, it is useful remebering that this sport
is first of all a mean of education. This is, by all means, what one can believe by admiring the brave Swiss national team of Xayomlaj above, which plays on a precarious ground. In the same place, professional knowledges in bakery are being increased thanks to the donations of the Countess Moira foundation, as well as of the Swiss Chablais Rotary Club.
Furthermore, an apprentices-workshop in tailoring opened in Santa Barbara. It is positive to notice that this profession not only meets the interest of girls, but also of boys who show much enthusiasm in their study.

During the last four months, alphabetization has been taught in classes of six communities for 110 young people, mainly girls.
The organization of a library follows its course with help from a US foundation.
As far as productive projects are concerned, the founding procedure of a small coffee-growers´cooperative is going on, as well as the search of funds for the developpement of more efficient production techniques.
A project of avocadoes culture is taking shape with the cooperation of the ministry of agriculture.
To this effect, seventy families are being informed about the elaboration of organic fertilizer by agronomical technicians in order to learn how to respect Mother nature.
On the front of general life conditions improvements, we work along with the ministry of health and other organizations to equip Santa Barbara with toilets bit by bit. This will enable this municipality to limit the negative consequences of the present situation on children´s health through water pollution.
